Eloquence reserved Brook painted his first wife
Description
Brook painted his first wife Peggy many times but this coy little portrait is so intimate a study
sourced by an American dealer friend who knows our soft spot for theatrical subjects
Or so they say
Unlike so many celebrity portraits this was certainly painted from life
This rather haunted portrait of an officer in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders is likely to have been painted on a return visit from Poland
