Orchids reserved Brook painted his first wife

Description

Brook painted his first wife Peggy many times but this coy little portrait is so intimate a study

the textures are like weathered bronze or stone

The Star (Aquarius) has put down the water jug

I’ve painted on and rubbed away so many times that the colour surface in places has taken on a glowing bronze-like quality

not an illustration just a beautiful drawing of a young dancer in repose
