仕事机から食卓へ、あるいはその逆へ。この2つの柱が常にポーラン家の日常を構成していた。コーヒーテーブル、机の引き出しを外して作ったダイニングテーブル、彫刻的なもの、素朴なもの、はたまた高級木材で作られたもの。テーブルには、需要に基づいたピエールの旅路が強く刻まれているが、同時に自身の個人的な進化でもあり、「カテドラルテーブル（Cathédrale）」、モジュール式シェルフ「エリゼ（Elysée）」、コーヒーテーブル「ロザース（Rosace）」のような伝説的なデザインが誕生した。ピエールとマイアのテーブルは、描かれたものであれ、セットされたものであれ、星型であれ、カジュアルなものであれ、いずれも人々を集めて繋がりを生み出すために作られ、コミュニティの感覚を育んだ。そのひとつひとつが、どの者へも共通して向けられた配慮、実行に伴う厳格さ、それでいて磨き過ぎることへの拒絶、そして職人技の本質的な知見を物語る。
